Naruko Kokeshi are one of the most famous traditional kokeshi styles, originating from Naruko Onsen in Miyagi Prefecture, Japan. They are known for their straight cylindrical bodies, large round heads, and a unique feature: the head makes a gentle “squeak” sound when turned, created by the way it’s fitted to the body.
