Location: Shikotsu Lake 支笏湖, Hokkaido, Japan. Size: 7.5 x 10 x 1.5 cm Shikotsu Lake is renowned for its high water transparency and is often considered one of the clearest lakes in Japan. Surrounded by Mt. Eniwa, Mt. Tarumae, and Mt. Fuppushi, the lake offers breathtaking scenery in all seasons, from lush greenery in summer to stunning autumn colors and winter’s Shikotsu Ice Festival. Despite Hokkaido’s harsh winters, the lake never freezes due to its depth and geothermal activity. Tsuko-Tegata is a kind of wooden passport that was used in the Edo Period as an identity card for travelers when passing from region to region. They had been sold a lot in Showa period as mingei type souvenirs all over Japan. It's also a protector for safety and peace for family.
