Takeo Sato (1914-1973) Born on June 22, 1914, as the eldest son of Sato Sanzo and Yoshino in Akiu, Miyagi Prefecture. After graduating from elementary school, he began training in woodcarving under his father Sanzo around 1926. After the war ended, he returned to woodcarving in 1946, and also resumed making kokeshi dolls.
