This Yasuno-yaki 安野焼 chawan is a striking matcha bowl defined by its deep, lustrous glaze and refined silhouette. The form is gently rounded with a stable, slightly raised foot, creating a classic tea bowl profile that feels balanced and comfortable in the hands.

The exterior is coated in a rich, dark glaze that shifts between charcoal brown and near-black, subtly mottled with fine speckles. Around the rim, the glaze breaks into warm amber and honey tones, flowing softly downward in delicate streaks.

Yasuno-yaki is associated with Yamaguchi Prefecture 山口県 in western Honshu, Japan. It influenced by nearby historic ceramic centers such as Hagi-yaki. Because it developed on a smaller, more localized scale rather than as a major historic kiln system, 安野焼 is often tied to individual workshops within Yamaguchi rather than a single large production town.

Yasuno-yaki wares are known for their warm, natural glazes and balanced craftsmanship, blending traditional tea aesthetics with practical usability. This chawan expresses that spirit well—simple yet expressive, refined yet organic—making it suitable both for daily tea practice and for display as a contemplative ceramic piece.
