TB98 - Set of Porcelain Tea Cups - 7 Lucky Gods 七福神

This set of 7 porcelain tea cups features hand-painted depictions of the 七福神 (Shichifukujin) — the Seven Lucky Gods of Japanese folklore. Each cup is crafted in the renowned Kutani-yaki (九谷焼) style, celebrated for its vivid colors, detailed brushwork, and use of gold accents.

The cups display each of the Seven Gods, symbolizing good fortune, prosperity, longevity, and happiness:

1. Ebisu (恵比寿) – god of prosperity and fishermen, holding a red sea bream
2. Daikokuten (大黒天) – god of wealth, with his mallet and rice bales
3. Bishamonten (毘沙門天) – god of warriors and protector of fortune
4. Benzaiten (弁才天) – goddess of knowledge, music, and art
5. Fukurokuju (福禄寿) – god of happiness, wealth, and longevity
6. Jurōjin (寿老人) – god of long life, with a staff and scroll
7. Hotei (布袋) – god of contentment and abundance

Each cup is decorated with gold-touched bamboo motifs and two red accent lines near the base. The delicate crackle glaze finish adds a refined, traditional touch typical of Kutani ware.

A perfect combination of artistry and symbolism, this Kutani-yaki Shichifukujin tea cup set makes a beautiful display piece or an auspicious gift for any tea lover or collector of Japanese ceramics.
