TB21 - Arita-yaki bamboo flower vase 有田燒

This is a vintage Arita-yaki (有田燒) wall-hanging flower vase by Tetsuzan (哲山) blends traditional Japanese craftsmanship with functional elegance. Shaped like a slender bamboo stalk, the vase is finished in a soft, celadon glaze with a delicate hand-painted botanical motif in gold colour on the front.

Ikebana 花道 “the way of flowers” and is the Japanese art of flower arrangement. It began centuries ago with offerings of flowers at Buddhist temples and gradually evolved into a refined art form with its own schools and philosophies. Unlike Western floral arrangements, which often focus on fullness and color, ikebana values space, line, and balance. The empty areas are as important as the flowers themselves, and each element is carefully chosen to represent harmony between heaven, earth, and humanity. It also reflects the changing seasons and the fleeting nature of life, so arrangements often include flowers and branches that show growth, withering, or asymmetry, capturing a sense of impermanence.

Designed with a small hole on the back for easy wall-mounting, it is perfect for ikebana (花道) or simple seasonal arrangements, bringing a touch of natural beauty into any space. The vase also comes with a wooden storage box (without lid), reflecting the Japanese appreciation for fine presentation and care in craft.

Size: 3.5 x 3.5 x 24.5cm (Vase)

It comes with one branch of artificial plant. (26cm long)
