This charming set of five Mino-yaki (美濃焼) yunomi tea cups features the single character 「和」—wa, meaning harmony, peace, and gentle balance—boldly brushed across each cup in soft, translucent glazes. Created by 小泉信夫 (Koizumi Nobuo) of 小泉石油店, the set reflects the everyday artistry found in regional kilns of Gifu, where Mino-yaki has flourished for over 1,300 years.
Each cup is finished in a different pastel tone—milky white, pale pink, and several shades of light blue—giving the set a calm, modern aesthetic while retaining the warmth of hand-thrown pottery. The brushwork of 「和」 varies subtly from cup to cup, showing the maker’s personal rhythm and expression.
The cups are presented in their original green gift box with a painterly circular motif, typical of mid- to late-Showa gift ceramics.
Condition note: One cup shows a noticeable crack, and therefore the set is priced as a 4-cup set, with the damaged piece included as a bonus.
