This vintage 灰皿 (ash tray) is a handcrafted work by the ceramist 篤治 Tokushi, created in the style of Song Dynasty (960–1279) porcelain, celebrated for its serene forms, subtle celadon hues, and refined crackle glazes.
Shaped into a low, rounded silhouette, the piece embodies the quiet harmony and balanced proportions characteristic of classic Song ceramics. The surface features a beautifully controlled natural crackle glaze, transitioning from pale celadon to cool jade tones. The crackling is fine and even, especially around the rim, where soft pooling and delicate speckling add depth and visual texture. Small raised glaze nodes accent the upper surface, giving the vessel a gentle sense of movement and natural irregularity.
The wide central opening and smooth, matte interior create a functional yet artful design, making the piece suitable not only as an ash tray but also as a decorative incense dish, desk accessory, or display piece for lovers of Song-inspired pottery.
