TB132 - Arita-yaki Teapot Set by Seitō 西陶 – 有田焼

Vintage item, never used. This Arita-yaki (有田焼) tea set, crafted by 西陶 (Seitō), beautifully captures the elegance and craftsmanship long associated with Japan’s most celebrated porcelain tradition. The teapot and five matching cups are finished in a rich, lustrous cobalt blue glaze, known as ruri-yu, which gives the set a striking depth and brilliance. Delicate hand-painted floral motifs, rendered in warm gold and soft grey tones, add a touch of sophistication and balance to the bold blue surface.

The teapot features a rounded, harmonious form and a comfortable cane-wrapped handle, making it both functional and pleasing to hold. Each cup echoes the same graceful shape and decorative detailing, creating a unified and visually appealing ensemble. The smooth porcelain interior ensures an ideal brewing environment for green tea, sencha, hōjicha, or everyday tea moments.

Arita-yaki, originating from Arita in Saga Prefecture, is Japan’s first true porcelain and has been admired for over four centuries for its fine clay, precision, and vibrant glazes. This set carries that heritage forward, combining beauty and practicality in a way that feels timeless. The original wooden tomobako storage box accompanies the set, adding authenticity and making it especially suitable for collectors, gifting, or refined home display.

A charming and elegant representation of Arita’s porcelain artistry, this tea set by 西陶 brings a touch of Japanese tradition to any tea ritual.
