TB104 - Handcrafted Ceramic Bowls by Tachikichi たち吉

TB104 - Handcrafted Ceramic Bowls by Tachikichi たち吉

This set of two handcrafted ceramic rice bowls (飯茶碗) exemplifies the refined artistry of Japanese pottery. Each bowl features a smooth, soft white glaze with subtle swirling patterns formed naturally during the wheel-throwing process, giving every piece a unique and organic character. The gentle sheen and faint tonal variations highlight the craftsmanship and traditional kiln-firing techniques used in their creation.

Tachikichi たち吉 founded in 1752 (mid-Edo period) in Kyoto, it is one of Japan’s most respected producers and retailers of ceramics and tableware. With over 260 years of history, the brand became known for blending traditional Kyoto aesthetics with modern functional design, making their pieces popular both in Japan and abroad.

Housed in a finely made wooden box (桐箱) inscribed with calligraphy, these bowls reflect the Japanese aesthetic of simplicity and quiet beauty. The accompanying note explains the nature of pottery as a living material, one that breathes, absorbs water, and gains character with use over time.
