The Shikishi features calligraphy in black ink on two contrasting square color backgrounds. 一同念佛 (いちどう ねんぶつ / Ichidō Nembutsu) Meaning: “All Together in Nembutsu” or “United in Reciting the Buddha’s Name” This phrase reflects a key concept in Jōdo Shinshū (True Pure Land Buddhism), emphasizing communal practice and shared devotion to Amida Buddha through the chanting of Namu Amida Butsu.
