A beautiful Japanese Tanzaku Display Frame (短冊掛け) from Fujito-ji Temple (藤戸寺), also known as Sara no Tera (沙羅の寺), located in Kurashiki, Okayama Prefecture, Japan.

Fujito-ji is a historic Buddhist temple associated with the Genpei War (1180–1185). It is particularly famous for its beautiful Sara flowers (Japanese Stewartia), traditionally associated with the Buddhist concept of impermanence.

This elegant display piece features a textured golden-yellow mounting board, accompanied by a traditional red protective sleeve decorated with Japanese circular motifs. It also includes an original informational leaflet introducing Fujito-ji Temple.

Traditionally used to display Tanzaku (短冊), narrow strips of paper featuring Japanese poetry, calligraphy, or paintings, this piece reflects the refined simplicity of Japanese artistic traditions.

A charming vintage collectible, ideal for displaying Japanese calligraphy or adding an authentic touch of Japanese culture to an interior.

Size: 9 x 48cm
