A vintage traditional Miyazaki Kyōdo Ningyō (宮崎郷土人形) folk doll representing 鶴富姫 (Tsurutomi-hime), a legendary princess from the Heike clan known for her tragic romance with Nasu Daihachirō during the Genpei War era. This handcrafted doll is part of the rich cultural heritage of Miyazaki Prefecture, Japan.

The figure is elegantly dressed in a kimono with intricate floral embroidery in gold, black, and red tones, symbolizing the grace and nobility of Tsurutomi-hime. She holds a traditional wooden pestle (hietsuki stick), reflecting the folk tradition of 稗搗節 (Hietsuki-bushi), a well-known Miyazaki minyō (folk song) sung during millet-pounding work.

Accompanying the doll is a small wooden cylinder, inscribed with the lyrics of 宮崎県民謡 稗搗節 – 庭の山椒の木 ("Miyazaki Folk Song, Hietsuki-bushi – The Sansho Tree in the Garden"), a famous line from the song that celebrates rural life and nature. The writing gives authenticity and connection to the regional music and folklore of Takachiho, Miyazaki. This doll is mounted on a black lacquered base, making it a charming decorative piece and a symbol of Miyazaki’s enduring folk traditions, legends, and artistry.
