Vintage traditional Zao kokeshi by Yusuke Kimura. He born on February 26, 1924, as the eldest son of Kimura Kichitaro and Murae at 940 Tokamachi, Kaminoyama-machi, Minamimurayama-gun, Yamagata Prefecture. From August 1945, he trained in woodcarving under his father Kichitaro. After that, he worked as the bath attendant at Nakanoyu Public Bath and managed the Zao Bodaira tea shop, so he did not produce many kokeshi dolls. After he retired from his position as a city council member, the amount of kokeshi he produced increased, but by the 2000s, the number of works had decreased again due to aging. On October 25, 2010, he moved from Tokamachi, where he had lived for many years, to 1-8 Kitamachi Honcho in the city. He passed away on March 28. He was 96 years old. Size: 19cm tall
