A perfect condition of a vintage Naruko-style kokeshi doll. It was crafted by Koyama Kesaki, an esteemed artisan born in 1940, celebrated for his bright and detailed work within the Naruko kokeshi tradition. Originating from Naruko Onsen in Miyagi Prefecture, Naruko kokeshi are famous for their refined forms, lively paintings, and distinctive craftsmanship.
A gently tapered body with a rounded head, featuring the classic structure of Naruko dolls. Vibrant red chrysanthemums with lush green leaves decorate the body—an iconic Naruko motif, symbolizing vitality and beauty. Finely drawn hair adorned with floral elements—typical of Koyama’s warm and welcoming style.
As common with Naruko dolls, the head can slightly turn and produce the characteristic "kiki" squeak sound, a delightful feature of this tradition.
