Yoshio Agatsuma born May 8, 1932, as the sixth son of charcoal manufacturer Ichisaburo and Yoshio Wagatsuma in Aone , Kawasaki-cho, Shibata-gun, Miyagi Prefecture. From 1949, Yoshio trained for seven years under his uncle Yoshisuke Wagatsuma in Shiroishi . When Yoshisuke moved to Sendai, Yoshio accompanied him and worked in Sendai. In 1958, at the age of 27, Yoshio left Yoshisuke's and opened a shop in Aone. He then worked as a craftsman at the factory of Masao Omiya in Togatta. In 1967, Yoshio returned to Aone and opened a woodcarving business, continuing to make kokeshi dolls. He passed away on September 16, 2004, at the age of 73. Size: 16cm tall
