Vintage Japanese Kokeshi Doll of Sendai Castle (仙台城址) & Miyagino Hagi (宮城野萩). They represents cultural landmarks and nature from Miyagi Prefecture, Japan. Each doll is inscribed with references to historical and botanical significance, making them a unique tribute to Sendai’s samurai heritage and the region’s natural beauty. Left Doll – Sendai Castle Ruins (仙台城址) built by Date Masamune in the early Edo period. The name 仙台城址 (Sendai Jōshi) means "Sendai Castle Ruins," referencing the historic site that still stands as an important cultural landmark in Sendai, Miyagi Prefecture. Right Doll – Miyagino Hagi (宮城野萩), the bush clover plant native to the Miyagino area in Miyagi Prefecture. Hagi (萩) is a symbol of autumn in Japan and is often featured in poetry, particularly in the famous Manyoshu (万葉集), Japan’s oldest anthology of poetry. The hand-painted details on the base include bush clover flowers (萩), a common theme in haiku and traditional Japanese paintings.
