Vintage Japanese folk toy from Onioshidashi (鬼押出), a famous volcanic rock formation located near Mount Asama in Japan. The rustic, handcrafted design reflects the rural and natural aesthetics of the region, making it a unique keepsake for visitors. The base and elements are made from wood, straw, and twine, giving it an organic, earthy feel. The miniature straw hut (likely representing a traditional thatched-roof home) signifies the rural lifestyle once found in mountainous regions like Onioshidashi. A small bundle of moss or dried grass adds a naturalistic touch, emphasizing the scenic volcanic terrain of the area.

Two tiny, hand-painted kokeshi dolls are placed inside woven straw sandals. Symbolize protective charms, farmers, or children, common themes in Japanese folk crafts. Inspired by yukinko (snow children) or farming culture from colder, mountainous regions. This region was created by a volcanic eruption of Mount Asama in 1783, forming a rugged landscape associated with myths of "oni" (demons) being pushed out by the eruption. The combination of straw, wood, and tiny figurines evokes themes of protection, resilience, and the warmth of village life, often found in Japanese folk art.

Size: 9 x 5 x 10 cm
