This is an authentic vintage ceramic empty sake bottle in the form of the Japanese Zodiac Dog (Inu), made by 櫻正宗株式会社 — one of Japan’s most historic and respected sake producers, known internationally as Sakuramasamune. The decanter features a soft celadon-style glaze, hand-applied gold accents, and retains its original cork stopper, presentation box with woodgrain design, and original paper insert.
Historically, Sakuramasamune supplied sake to feudal lords, temples, and the imperial court, helping establish its nationwide reputation. During the Meiji and Taisho eras, the company became a pioneer in modern quality control and nationwide distribution, while still preserving artisan brewing methods.
Because of this long heritage, Sakuramasamune frequently released limited-edition ceramic decanters and zodiac bottles such as this one, which were often sold as New Year’s gifts.
