A vintage Japanese folk toy Inoshishi no Hariko (猪の張り子), a papier-mâché boar figure. It is often associated with the Japanese zodiac and symbolizes the Year of the pig.

The boar is painted a bright yellowo with white and red decorative patterns, including a plum blossom motif on its side, a symbol of resilience and renewal in Japanese culture. It holds a miniature arrow, or hamaya (破魔矢), which is traditionally believed to ward off evil spirits and bring good luck.

The small wooden plaque beside it bears Japanese calligraphy that reads: 開運来福 (kaiun raifuku): “Good fortune and happiness to come.” This type of folk toy is not just decorative but is also a talisman meant to invite luck and protection, especially during the New Year or other celebratory occasions. The toy is placed on a red felt mat, enhancing its festive and auspicious appearance.

Size: 12 x 8 x 7cm
