CB120 - Dorei Clay Bell of Nogomi Ningyō のごみ人形
This vintage crafted clay bell (dorei) features a Nogomi Ningyō (のごみ人形) in the shape of a rabbit, a traditional folk craft from Saga Prefecture in Kyūshū, Japan. The rabbit’s rounded form, simple facial lines, and slightly weathered surface give it a nostalgic, time-worn character. A straw cord is tied at the top, allowing it to be hung as a decoration or used as a gentle chiming bell.
Nogomi Ningyō originated from the area surrounding Nogomi Shrine (野込神社) in Tara Town and were traditionally sold during shrine festivals as protective talismans for children. These figures have long been cherished as lucky charms, believed to ward off evil and bring health, safety, and prosperity.
It made from natural clay and painted in soft white with vivid red and green accents, it reflects the traditional aesthetic of Japanese regional dolls.
