CB114 - Dorei Clay Bell from Ise Jingū 伊勢神宮
This vintage hand- crafted unglazed dorei (clay bell) in the shape of a sitting dog comes from the revered Ise Jingū (伊勢神宮), one of Japan’s most sacred Shinto shrines located in Mie Prefecture. Crafted in a natural terracotta tone, the bell features a white cord and is embossed with the shrine’s emblem 神宮, signifying its spiritual origin.
Ise Jingū has been a major pilgrimage site for centuries. This bell serves not only as a decorative piece but also as a spiritual memento connecting its bearer to the divine heritage of Japan’s most revered shrine.
Dogs are traditionally symbols of loyalty, protection, and safe childbirth in Japanese culture. As part of a zodiac series or as a standalone guardian figure, this bell makes a meaningful omamori (protective charm) and a unique piece of Japanese folk art.
