CB111 - Dorei Clay Bell of Nogomi Ningyō のごみ人形
This vintage crafted clay bell (dorei) features a Nogomi Ningyō (のごみ人形) in the shape of a goat, a traditional folk craft from Saga Prefecture in Kyūshū, Japan. Handcrafted from clay and decorated in bold, expressive colors, the goat is adorned with symbolic round patterns in black and yellow, spiral blue horns, and red details on its back. Its stylized features and friendly expression embody the playful, rustic charm that Nogomi dolls are known for. A natural straw cord is tied at the top for hanging or display.
Nogomi Ningyō originated from the area surrounding Nogomi Shrine (野込神社) in Tara Town and were traditionally sold during shrine festivals as protective talismans for children. These figures have long been cherished as lucky charms, believed to ward off evil and bring health, safety, and prosperity.
As a zodiac-inspired figurine, this goat also symbolizes gentleness, peace, and harmony—traits traditionally associated with the Year of the Goat in the Chinese zodiac. The inclusion of a bell inside further enhances its role as an amulet, as the soft ringing sound is said to attract good fortune and spiritual protection.
