CB002 - Clay bell ornament Dorei Horse Miyazaki Jingu

Vintage Japanese clay bell ornament (dorei) from Miyazaki Jingu, the story behind the clay bell. There is a ranch in Tateishi, where Emperor Jimmu is said to have released his beloved horse, Tatsuishi. During the feudal period, a ranch magistrate was stationed there, and during the horse-chasing event, it was customary to bring in excellent horses to pray for the health and development of the horses and the prosperity of descendants. During the shrine's annual festival (a grand festival to give thanks for the bountiful harvest), many horses decorated with five-colored cloth and horse bells would gather from the surrounding areas, making the place a very lively event.

Dorei is a traditional handcrafted bell made from clay or ceramic, these bells produce a soft, pleasant sound when shaken. Often sold at shrines or festivals as charms to ward off evil and bring good fortune.
The sound of the bell is believed to purify the surrounding environment and attract positive energy.
