Vintgae item, never used. A Kyo Ware (京焼) ceramic bowl known as Kamo no Kubote (鴨のくぼて), associated with the historic Shimogamo Shrine (下鴨神社) in Kyoto, Japan.

The bowl features a delicate green Futaba Aoi (双葉葵) leaf motif against a soft ivory-white glaze. This traditional plant symbol is closely associated with Shimogamo Shrine and Kyoto's famous Aoi Matsuri Festival.

The name Kubote (くぼて) refers to an ancient style of earthenware vessel dating back to Japan's Jōmon period. These early vessels were traditionally used to present food offerings to the deities during sacred rituals, representing an important part of Japan's early ceremonial and pottery traditions.

Shimogamo Shrine, officially known as Kamo Mioya Shrine (賀茂御祖神社), is one of Kyoto's oldest Shinto shrines and forms part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site Historic Monuments of Ancient Kyoto.

Inspired by these ancient vessels, the Kamo no Kubote bowl connects Japanese ceramic craftsmanship with centuries of spiritual and cultural heritage. Today, the Kubote can also be used as a Chawan (茶碗) or everyday tableware (食器), making it suitable for serving rice, tea, or small dishes. Its simple, elegant form brings a touch of traditional Japanese culture to modern dining.

A charming collectible piece, complete with its original decorative floral storage box and explanatory leaflet from Shimogamo Shrine.

Size: 9 x 9 x 4cm
