Vintage Item, never used. A Mino-yaki (美濃焼) yunomi tea cup set, decorated with traditional Japanese words of wisdom centered on two timeless themes: longevity and good health.
The larger cup features 長寿の心得 (Chōju no Kokoroe), meaning “Precepts for Longevity.” Written in expressive green calligraphy, the text offers lighthearted guidance on how to approach old age and live a long, fulfilling life. Rather than simply celebrating longevity, these sayings reflect a distinctly Japanese appreciation for remaining active, optimistic, and engaged with everyday life as one grows older. The smaller cup is inscribed 健康の心得 (Kenkō no Kokoroe), or “Precepts for Good Health.” Its advice includes familiar principles such as enjoying meat and fresh vegetables, avoiding excessive sweets, and maintaining moderation in daily habits. Together, the two cups form a playful yet meaningful pair devoted to 健康長寿 (kenkō chōju) — a long life accompanied by good health.
Both cups have a softly speckled white glaze accented by a warm reddish-brown rim, allowing the deep green calligraphy to stand out beautifully. The slightly different sizes also give the pair the character of a traditional Japanese couple's yunomi set.
