This Tsuko-Tegata (通行手形) comes from the Nagoya TV Tower (名古屋テレビ塔)—often referred to as the Nagoya Observation Tower (名古屋観光塔)—one of the most recognizable landmarks in Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture.

The front of the wooden plaque features bold calligraphy reading 参観記念 (Commemorative Visit) alongside a stylized illustration of the iconic Nagoya TV Tower, Japan’s first consolidated radio and television broadcasting tower, completed in 1954. Rising above Hisaya Ōdori Park in the center of the city, the tower has long been a symbol of postwar modernization and urban culture in Nagoya. A small bell attached to the braided cord adds a traditional touch, as the gentle ringing sound is believed to ward off misfortune and bring good luck to travelers.

The combination of historic travel-pass styling and modern tourist imagery reflects the evolution of the tsuko-tegata, which originally functioned as official travel permits during the Edo period but today serve as nostalgic souvenirs marking memorable journeys.
