The front side features a vivid illustration of the traditional Hida no Sato (Hida Folk Village), with its iconic thatched-roof gassho-zukuri houses and majestic festival floats—hallmarks of Takayama's famed Takayama Matsuri, one of Japan’s most beautiful festivals. A red circular emblem and fencing frame the festive scenery, symbolizing protection and prosperity. Tsuko-Tegata is a kind of wooden passport that was used in the Edo Period as an identity card for travelers when passing from region to region. They had been sold a lot in Showa period as mingei type souvenirs all over Japan. It's also a protector for safety and peace for family.
