VTT103 - Tsuko-Tegata︱Noto 能登路
VTT103 - Tsuko-Tegata︱Noto 能登路
Location: Noto 能登路, Ishikawa Prefecture
Size: 7.5 x 10 x 1.5cm
It features a powerful depiction of the 御陣乗鬼面太鼓 (Gojinjo-Kimen-Daiko)—a dramatic and intimidating traditional drumming performance unique to the region. Performed by masked drummers wearing fierce demon-like expressions, Gojinjo Daiko is deeply rooted in local lore, said to have been used to scare off invaders during wartime.
Tsuko-Tegata is a kind of wooden passport that was used in the Edo Period as an identity card for travelers when passing from region to region. They had been sold a lot in Showa period as mingei type souvenirs all over Japan. It's also a protector for safety and peace for family.
