TB344 - Hagiden-gama Hagi-yaki tea cup 萩焼
Vintage item, never used. The set includes two yunomi tea cups in different sizes, making them a charming pair for Japanese tea, hojicha, sencha, or everyday use. Both cups have a warm cylindrical form with a slightly raised foot, giving them a simple and balanced appearance.
The glaze shows the soft beauty typical of Hagi ware, with a creamy white upper section and warm earthy peach-brown tones on the lower body. Fine speckles, natural glaze movement, and gentle firing variations give each cup its own handmade character. One cup is decorated with a subtle carved plant-like motif, adding a quiet decorative detail without disturbing the calm rustic feeling of the set.
Hagiden-gama 萩殿窯 is a Hagi ware kiln from Yamaguchi Prefecture, known for producing approachable tea ware and ceramic pieces that carry the gentle warmth of traditional Hagi-yaki. Its works often feature soft pale glazes, warm blush tones, and natural crackle that becomes more expressive with use.
Hagi-yaki 萩焼 is a traditional ceramic ware from Yamaguchi Prefecture, highly appreciated in Japanese tea culture for its soft clay, warm glaze, and natural surface texture. One of its special charms is known as “Hagi no nanabake” 萩の七化け, meaning the “seven transformations of Hagi,” referring to how the glaze can gradually deepen and change through use as tea enters the fine crackle.
