This pair of Arita-yaki 有田焼 lidded yunomi tea cups is crafted by Kashō-gama 加正窯, a kiln known for producing refined porcelain wares that balance traditional decoration with practical everyday use.

The cups feature a deep indigo-blue glaze, creating a glossy, mirror-like surface that beautifully highlights the delicate decorative work. Each piece is adorned with a graceful bamboo motif, rendered in gold and soft metallic tones. Bamboo has long been a cherished symbol in Japanese culture, representing resilience, longevity, and prosperity. The design extends subtly onto the lids, creating a harmonious and balanced composition.

The cylindrical form with fitted lids helps retain warmth, making these cups ideal for serving green tea such as sencha or genmaicha. The smooth porcelain body feels light yet sturdy in the hand, reflecting the high firing and technical precision that Arita ware is known for.

Arita porcelain, originating from Saga Prefecture in Kyushu, is one of Japan’s most celebrated ceramic traditions, dating back to the early 17th century. Its reputation for fine white porcelain and elegant decoration has made it highly prized both in Japan and internationally.

Presented in the original wooden tomobako labeled 「有田焼 夫婦湯呑」 (Arita ware paired yunomi), this set makes a thoughtful gift for couples or a beautiful addition to a collection of classic Japanese porcelain tea ware.
