This charming ema-style shikishi original artwork is created by 藤原六間堂 (Fujiwara Rokkandō), son of the modern ink artist 藤原楞山 (Fujiwara Ryōzan), inheriting a refined sensibility for expressive brushwork and contemporary ink aesthetics.

The composition depicts a stylized boar (inoshishi) within the outline of a traditional ema (votive plaque), a motif deeply rooted in Japanese culture and often associated with wishes, protection, and good fortune. The boar, a symbol of courage, determination, and vitality, is rendered with loose, spontaneous ink strokes that convey both movement and personality. Above, a striking red accent adds visual energy, while the minimal black lines suggest the form of the plaque with elegant simplicity.

The artist’s use of negative space and restrained brushwork reflects a modern interpretation of traditional sumi-e, balancing playfulness with sophistication. The presence of signature and seal stamps (hanko) reinforces its artistic authenticity and lineage.

Executed on a classic gold-edged shikishi board, the piece shows gentle signs of age such as natural spotting, which enhances its vintage character and wabi-sabi appeal.

Size: 24 x 27cm
