The kokeshi captures Jirocho’s iconic look: a wide-brimmed brown kasa (hat), a travel coat draped over his shoulders, and a fan in hand, exuding charisma and determination. A family crest and travel gear details are also painted on his kimono, emphasizing his status as a leader and man of honor.
Jirocho is often remembered not only for his strength and influence among gamblers and sailors around Shimizu Port (present-day Shizuoka), but also for his deep sense of justice, loyalty, and generosity.
