BK49 - Sake Vessels magazine 酒のうつわ
This February 2013 issue (No. 535) of Chiisana Tsubomi (小さな蕾) comes from the long-running Japanese magazine devoted to antique art, ceramics, traditional crafts, museum collections, and cultural heritage.
One of the principal features of this issue is 「酒のうつわで新春を」 – “Welcoming the New Year with Sake Vessels,” presenting works from the Tokai Regional Collection (東海地域のコレクター K氏コレクション).
Another fascinating article, 「手中に珠を愛でる歓び」, focuses on the pleasure of appreciating small and beautiful objects held in the hand, drawing upon works from a London gallery. It reflects a particularly intimate aspect of antique collecting—the tactile enjoyment and close observation of miniature works of art.
The issue also continues its series celebrating the reopening of the Itsuo Art Museum (逸翁美術館), with this fourth installment devoted to Momoyama and Edo-period art, alongside regular columns covering ceramics, textiles, flowers, museums, and connoisseurship.
The striking cover features a small standing figure in historical East Asian dress, reinforcing the magazine's broad interest in objects extending beyond Japanese art into the wider sphere of Asian antiquities.
