TB34 - Japanese ceremonial gift Fukusa 帛紗
This product is a traditional Japanese ceremonial gift-wrapping set known as "礼装用 帛紗(ほうさ)・風呂敷セット." It includes a beautifully crafted 帛紗 (fukusa), which is a type of decorative cloth used to elegantly wrap and present gifts at formal occasions.
The set is made from high-quality fabric dyed in a deep blue colour and adorned with intricate gold embroidery. One side of the fukusa features a floral motif inspired by a family crest, known as the mon-style design. The other side is embroidered with the auspicious character "寿" (kotobuki), symbolising longevity and congratulations. Gold tassels are attached at the corners, adding an extra touch of elegance.
Accompanying the fukusa is a leaflet that explains the origin and etiquette of using it in Japanese culture. Historically, fukusa was used in court ceremonies to present gifts, symbolising respect and purity. Today, it is widely used for celebratory occasions such as weddings, births, housewarmings, seasonal greetings, and formal visits.
Fukusa is not just a practical wrapping cloth but also a representation of Japanese courtesy and refinement. Its blue fabric with gold embroidery makes it particularly suitable for celebratory and auspicious occasions.
The square shape, rich blue fabric, and golden embroidery make it is also suitable as:
- A framed textile art piece
- A table or shelf display cloth for special occasions
- A seasonal decoration during weddings, New Year, or celebrations
