TB122 - Lidded Porcelain Tea Cup Set by Kōzan-gama 幸山窯
Vintage item, never used. This set features lidded porcelain tea cups crafted by 幸山窯 (Kōzan Kiln) and signed by the artist 輝峰 (Kiho). Known for its refined ceramic work, 幸山窯 is a Japanese kiln recognized for producing clean, graceful forms with subtle, traditional motifs.
Hotaru-yaki (ホタル焼), literally “firefly ware,” traditionally, artisans achieved this effect by creating tiny pierced or thinned areas in the clay, which, once glazed and fired, allowed light to pass through subtly. When held up to the light, these small circular openings seemed to glow like fireflies in the dark.
The lidded design helps retain warmth and aroma, making the cups suitable for tea, chawanmushi (savory steamed egg custard), desserts or other small covered dishes.
The set comes in its original wooden box with Japanese labeling that references Hotaru-yaki (ホタル焼), a term often associated with delicate, light-toned ceramic decoration.
