CB103 - Set of handcrafted dorei Shichifukujin 七福神
This set of handcrafted dorei (土鈴) clay bells features the beloved Shichifukujin (七福神) Seven Lucky Gods of Japanese folklore. Each bell is uniquely shaped and hand-painted to represent one of these deities, traditionally believed to bring various forms of fortune—wealth, happiness, wisdom, and longevity.
The set includes:
1. Ebisu (恵比須), the smiling god of fishermen and commerce, often depicted with a fishing rod or sea bream.
2. Daikokuten (大黒天), the deity of wealth and farmers, shown with his iconic red hat and cheerful face.
3. Bishamonten (毘沙門天), the warrior god of protection, wearing a helmet with a stern expression.
4. Benzaiten (弁才天), the goddess of beauty, music, and art, gracefully adorned with long black hair and delicate features.
5. Fukurokuju (福禄寿), the god of happiness, wealth, and longevity, with a tall forehead and white beard.
6. Jurōjin (寿老人), another long-lived sage deity, often confused with Fukurokuju, depicted with a serene expression and long beard.
7. Hotei (布袋), the laughing monk, symbolizing abundance and contentment, with a round cheerful face.
Each bell is small and light, with a string for hanging, making them suitable for display, personal altars, or as lucky charms. Together, these bells encapsulate a joyful and auspicious spirit, celebrating traditional Japanese beliefs in divine fortune and everyday blessings.
