Item for Kintsugi project. This vintage Kiyomizu-yaki (清水焼) mizusashi (水指), a traditional fresh water jar used in the Japanese tea ceremony, carries both quiet elegance and a powerful sense of history—making it an especially compelling piece for a Kintsugi (金繕い) restoration project.

Rendered in a soft, milky white glaze with fine crackling (貫入), the vessel is delicately hand-painted with a Gosho-guruma (御所車) motif—an aristocratic ox-drawn carriage associated with the Heian court. The vivid red carriage, accented with fine detailing, rests among stylized seasonal foliage, evoking classical Kyoto aesthetics and the refined world of courtly literature such as The Tale of Genji. This motif traditionally symbolizes elegance, nobility, and the passage of time.

Condition-wise, the piece bears a prominent vertical crack running from the rim downward, along with smaller fractures and areas of glaze loss. It has been temporarily stabilized with wrapping, but clearly awaits proper restoration.

Size: 12 x 12 x 14cm
