Vintage item, never used. A Japanese sake set crafted in the tradition of Tamba Tachikui Ware (丹波立杭焼), one of Japan's most celebrated traditional pottery styles, originating from Hyogo Prefecture.

This elegant set consists of two sake bottles (tokkuri 徳利) and five matching sake cups (guinomi ぐい呑み), presented with its original blue storage box.

The pieces feature a rich, earthy reddish-brown clay body, beautifully contrasted with a textured grey-green ash-like glaze. The glaze flows naturally across the surfaces, creating delicate speckled patterns and organic variations that highlight the rustic beauty of Japanese ceramics. The sake bottles have graceful, rounded bodies with narrow necks and gently flared openings, while the matching cups feature simple cylindrical shapes with softly irregular glazed finishes.

Tamba Tachikui Ware (丹波立杭焼) is produced in the Tamba region of Hyogo Prefecture and belongs to Japan's Six Ancient Kilns (日本六古窯), a group of historic pottery centres with centuries of ceramic tradition. Tamba pottery is particularly admired for its earthy clay tones, natural glazing effects, and understated elegance, embodying the Japanese aesthetic of wabi-sabi — an appreciation of simplicity, natural materials, and imperfection.

Traditionally associated with everyday vessels such as jars, bowls, and sake containers, Tamba ware reflects the enduring craftsmanship of Japanese folk pottery (mingei).

With its harmonious colours, organic textures, and timeless design, this vintage sake set is both a functional piece of Japanese tableware and a beautiful example of traditional ceramic craftsmanship.
