VIntage item, never used. This striking Japanese ceramic vase is a piece of Ko-Iga style ware (古伊賀焼), made by 虎睦窯, a kiln originating from Iga City in Mie Prefecture, one of Japan’s historic pottery regions.
The vase has a tall, gently tapering form with a slightly irregular mouth, emphasizing the handmade character of the piece. Its surface is especially expressive: the warm brown clay body is covered with vigorous horizontal textures, while a rich green glaze flows naturally across the surface in thick, irregular drips and pools. The contrast between exposed clay and glossy glaze creates a dramatic, earthy appearance that changes from every angle.
Iga ware is traditionally admired for its robust clay, spontaneous glazing and appreciation of natural kiln effects. Rather than pursuing perfect uniformity, its beauty lies in texture, irregularity and the interaction between clay, fire and glaze—qualities closely associated with the Japanese aesthetic of wabi-sabi.
