A refined vintage Kutani-yaki (九谷焼) matcha chawan crafted by Kutani Shin'ei (九谷眞栄) of Shin'eidō (眞栄堂), a respected kiln located in the Kaga-Nomi district of Ishikawa Prefecture—the historic heartland of Kutani porcelain production.

This elegant tea bowl features a crisp white porcelain body adorned with a vibrant band of akae (red overglaze) and delicate gold accents, showcasing the traditional Shippō (七宝) pattern. Composed of interlocking circles symbolizing harmony, prosperity, and endless good fortune, the Shippō motif has been treasured in Japanese decorative arts for centuries. Fine golden floral details woven throughout the design add a graceful sense of refinement, while the luminous glaze and balanced proportions make the bowl equally suited for tea ceremony or display.

Kutani Shin'ei was known for producing finely crafted Kutani ware that honored classical techniques while embracing clean, elegant compositions. Situated in the renowned Kaga-Nomi ceramic region, the kiln contributed to the rich legacy of Kutani porcelain, celebrated for its brilliant enamel decoration, meticulous craftsmanship, and enduring artistic tradition.

The bowl offers a comfortable grip and generous shape ideal for preparing and enjoying matcha. Its timeless design combines traditional symbolism with understated elegance, making it a beautiful addition to any tea collection.
