This original Sōsaku Kokeshi titled "Tsubaki" (椿 – Camellia) was created by renowned master Usaburō Okamoto (岡本卯三郎), one of the most celebrated figures in the world of modern creative kokeshi. Recognized as a recipient of the prestigious Minister of International Trade and Industry Award (通産大臣賞), Okamoto is admired for elevating kokeshi from traditional folk toys into refined works of Japanese art.
