A vintage Japanese White Rabbit Eto Figurine (干支 卯 置物) crafted by Yakushigama (薬師窯), a well-known Japanese ceramic workshop celebrated for its traditional decorative ornaments and auspicious folk-inspired creations.

This delightful figurine depicts a peaceful white rabbit resting in a gentle, rounded pose, with its long ears gracefully folded along its body. Finished in a soft matte white, the rabbit features delicate red-painted eyes and the Japanese kanji 寿 (Kotobuki) on its side, symbolising longevity, celebration, and good fortune.

In the Japanese zodiac (Eto, 干支), the rabbit (卯, U) is the fourth animal in the twelve-year cycle. Traditionally associated with gentleness, peace, fertility, and prosperity, the rabbit is also considered a symbol of progress and new beginnings.

In Japanese culture, rabbits are particularly auspicious because of their ability to leap forward, representing advancement, personal growth, and success. Rabbit figurines are therefore popular as New Year decorations and thoughtful gifts wishing happiness and good fortune.

The red 寿 (Kotobuki) character further enhances its auspicious meaning, expressing wishes for a long and joyful life. Yakushigama is a Japanese ceramic workshop associated with the pottery traditions of Seto in Aichi Prefecture, one of Japan's historic ceramic-producing regions.
