A charming vintage Mino-yaki (美濃焼) ceramic serving set made by Yakimono Umeya (やきもの梅屋), decorated with a playful kazaguruma-mon (風車紋), or “pinwheel” motif.
The set features a softly speckled white glaze contrasted with warm brown rims and freely painted geometric designs in deep green, black, and touches of red. The stylised pinwheel motif has a distinctly mid-century Japanese character, combining rustic mingei-inspired warmth with simple, modern graphics. Subtle variations in the glaze and hand-applied decoration give each piece its own individual expression.
The set consists of a large serving dish, five small plates, and a lidded pouring vessel, making it suitable for serving appetisers, small dishes, condiments, or Japanese-style shared meals. The matching original presentation box is also included.
Mino-yaki (美濃焼) refers to ceramics traditionally produced in the Mino region of present-day Gifu Prefecture, one of Japan's most important pottery-producing areas. Rather than representing a single style, Mino ware encompasses a remarkably broad range of techniques and aesthetics, from celebrated tea wares to practical ceramics for everyday life.
