TB455 - Karatsu Lidded Bowls 唐津
TB455 - Karatsu Lidded Bowls 唐津
A beautiful pair of Japanese ceramic lidded bowls (蓋物, futamono) in the traditional Hakeme Karatsu (刷毛目唐津) style, featuring delicate, flowing white brushstroke patterns over a soft grey-green glaze.
Hakeme (刷毛目) is a traditional Japanese pottery technique in which white slip is applied to the clay surface using a brush, creating expressive, layered textures. Associated with Karatsu ware from Saga Prefecture, this technique reflects the rustic simplicity and natural beauty of Japanese ceramics.
Each bowl features a gently rounded shape, a matching lid with a small knob, and subtle earthy tones along the rims. The swirling patterns resemble ripples of water, giving the pieces a calm, organic character.
Traditionally used for serving Japanese dishes, these covered bowls are equally charming as decorative pieces, embodying the understated elegance of Japanese wabi-sabi aesthetics.
Set includes: Two ceramic bowls with matching lids.
Size: 15 x 15 x 6cm
