Vintage item, never used. A beautiful Arita-yaki 有田焼 yunomi tea cup set by 雅峯, decorated with an elegant all-over blue-and-white floral motif.
The set consists of five matching tea cups, each with a softly rounded form and smooth white porcelain body. Across the exterior, delicate blossoms and leaves are painted in varying shades of cobalt and soft blue, creating a layered, almost watercolor-like effect.
The decoration is reminiscent of the traditional sometsuke (染付) blue-and-white aesthetic, long associated with Japanese porcelain. The slightly varied intensity of the blue gives the flowers depth while keeping the overall appearance light and refined.
The blossoms ume 梅 (Japanese plum blossom), a beloved motif in Japanese art. Plum blossoms bloom while winter still lingers and are traditionally associated with resilience, renewal, perseverance and the arrival of spring.
Arita-yaki (有田焼) originates from Arita in Saga Prefecture, one of Japan’s most celebrated porcelain-producing regions. With a history extending back more than four centuries, Arita ware is especially admired for its fine white porcelain, precise forms and sophisticated painted decoration.
The base of each cup bears the 雅峯 mark, identifying the maker. Ideal for serving sencha, bancha, hōjicha or genmaicha, this coordinated set is both practical for everyday use and attractive as a collectible example of vintage Japanese porcelain.
