Vintage item, never used. This elegant Japanese Wajima-nuri lacquer vase (輪島塗) features a refined crane motif (鶴 / tsuru), one of the most auspicious and enduring symbols in Japanese decorative arts. The tall cylindrical form is finished in deep glossy black lacquer, creating a striking contrast with the graceful cranes rendered in warm gold and silver-toned decoration.

The cranes are depicted in flight with extended wings and long, slender necks, giving the composition a sense of movement while retaining the restrained elegance associated with traditional Japanese lacquerware. In Japanese culture, the crane represents longevity, good fortune, fidelity, and peace, and is frequently used for celebratory and auspicious objects.

Wajima-nuri (輪島塗) originates from Wajima in Ishikawa Prefecture and is one of Japan's best-known lacquerware traditions. It is celebrated for its carefully built lacquer surface, durability, and refined decorative techniques, often incorporating gold or silver details.

Size: 6 x 6 x 28cm
