The taller figure features a rounded head with a small traditional hair bun, delicately painted eyes, and a slender body decorated with black geometric patterns and a soft yellow band. The smaller doll has a sweet, childlike expression, with subtle green decorations and a distinctive dark blue band around its body.

This set was originally distributed through Senshukai's famous Kokeshi Distribution Club (こけし頒布会), launched in the mid-1950s.

At a time when mail-order shopping was still developing in Japan, Senshukai introduced an innovative subscription programme, primarily aimed at working women. Members received affordable monthly deliveries of carefully selected creative kokeshi and other artistic household objects, gradually building their own collections of Japanese folk crafts.

The programme became enormously popular and played an important role in introducing Sōsaku Kokeshi to a wider audience while helping establish Japan's modern mail-order culture.

Size: 4 x 3 x 12cm (L)
2 x 2 x 8cm (S)

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0964/9746/7723/files/Cover_271df825-82b9-4b1c-b2df-ad3ec0c4322b.jpg?v=1792582906
