A wonderfully elaborate vintage Japanese Maneki-neko (招き猫) figure packed with traditional symbols of good fortune, prosperity, perseverance, and success.
At the centre sits a large silver lucky cat with its paw raised in the familiar beckoning gesture, inviting luck, customers, and prosperity.
The large red plaque marked 「大入」 (Ōiri). Literally meaning “full house” or “large attendance,” ōiri is traditionally used in theatres, shops, and entertainment venues to celebrate strong business and many customers.
This piece brings together numerous auspicious motifs, including:
- Daruma 達磨 – perseverance, determination, and achieving one’s goals
- Koi 鯉 – strength, ambition, and success through overcoming obstacles
- Small Maneki-neko – multiplied wishes for luck and prosperity
- Coins and treasure motifs – wealth and financial fortune
- Red and gold accents – traditional colours associated with celebration and good luck
- Raised paw – beckoning good fortune and customers
Its bright colours, highly detailed surface, and slightly playful composition give it wonderful vintage charm, while the combination of Maneki-neko, Daruma, koi, and 大入 makes it particularly appealing for collectors of Japanese auspicious folk art.
A cheerful decorative piece symbolizing prosperity, resilience, successful business, abundance, and good fortune.
Vintage condition with possible age-related wear, small marks, rubbing, or minor surface loss, consistent with its age and character.
